A deck once bound by bungees is now the jewel of the home
What began as a simple deck repair quickly became a complete backyard transformation. When Mosaic owner and designer Klint Reiber first visited Hillary and Elliot’s Greenwood Village home, the conversation centered on replacing a failing deck that was literally pulling away from the house.
“It was an obstacle course,” Elliot recalled.
“We literally had our glass railing bungee-corded after a horrible snowstorm,” Hillary added.
But Klint saw more than a damaged deck. With a beautiful pool and stunning western sunsets, he envisioned an outdoor living space that fully embraced the home’s greatest asset.
To solve the lack of shade, Klint designed a dramatic gable roof that expanded the covered area from just a few feet to nearly eighteen, making the space comfortable throughout the day. The deck itself grew from six feet to nearly twenty-two, creating a spacious steel-framed outdoor room with low-maintenance composite decking, a custom granite bar, an oversized fire feature, infrared heaters, and elegant low-voltage lighting.
The transformation continued inside with accordion glass doors that seamlessly connect the living room to the deck. Beneath the waterproof structure, unused space became a second covered outdoor room with recessed lighting, creating another inviting gathering area.
